Original painting created for The Unusual Frida Kahlo Art Exhibit, December 2019. Here is the inspiration:
I am in awe of the depth of emotion and beauty that shines through Frida’s paintings. I am especially taken by “The Broken Column”, which is an incredible expression of the excruciating physical pain she endured. While “Roots” captures the life that flowed through and out of her and her experiences. My piece for this exhibit is inspired by the elements in these two paintings. It is my hope to express how she thrived despite all her challenges; how life-giving beauty could not be contained, but was repeatedly birthed in her paintings, clothing, home, and more.
